Ball handling (no hoop required)
- Tight pound dribbles — 30 seconds each hand, ball below the knee
- Crossover combos — 45 seconds, eyes up the whole time
- In-and-out attacks — 10 each side, sell the fake with the shoulder
- Figure-eight wraps — 60 seconds, no looking down
Footwork and defensive movement
- Lateral slides in a 2-metre lane — 4 × 20 seconds
- Close-out steps into a chop-step stop — 10 reps
- Drop-step and recover — 10 each direction
Finishing touch without a rim
Practise the touch, not the make. Euro-step footwork into a soft wall toss, reverse-layup hand positioning, and one-hand floater release against a wall all build the same patterns you use at the rim. Ten reps of each side, slow and exact.
How to make it stick
Attach a number to every drill — seconds, reps, or clean repetitions in a row — and write it down. A 20-minute session with scores beats an hour of aimless dribbling, and it gives you something to beat tomorrow.
Skill is built in small rooms far more often than in big gyms.
